The Berlin Apple Store
Rumors of a new Apple retail store in Berlin had been floating around for years. Then some mysterious construction on the Ku’damm (Kurfürstendamm 26) in 2011 led to more speculation, but still no store. Most observers then predicted a Berlin grand opening in the summer of 2012, but as the year drew to a close, there was still no Apple Store open in Berlin. Of Apple’s 300+ retail stores worldwide, only a piddling 10 were in Germany, a country of 82 million people. Then, on April 22, 2013, Apple finally unveiled a white-on-black sign in front of the new Apple Store on Ku’damm! On Friday, May 3, 2013, after two years of construction, that store finally became the eleventh Apple Store in Germany. Now Berlin has the honor of the 16th Apple Store in Deutschland! The new store on Rosenthaler Straße in Mitte opened in December 2021. A second store in Munich (Olympia Einkaufszentrum) opened in late September 2013, bringing the total to twelve at that time. The new stores in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Hannover, plus a second Cologne store now bring the total to 16 Apple Stores in Germany. Gravis
Although they’re not true Apple Stores, the Gravis stores in Germany are Apple Premium Resellers – and they sell the iPhone, iPad and other Apple products. Gravis has 40 stores across Germany in cities from Aachen to Wiesbaden. Try the Gravis Storefinder to find one near you.

There are currently four retail Apple Stores in Switzerland, three in German-speaking Switzerland (die Schweiz), and one in the French region (Geneva) of the country.

Apple Store in Austria

Finally, after many years, Austria now has its own brick-and-mortar Apple Store – in Vienna. Although there were (and are) retailers selling Apple and Mac products in Austria, there was no official Apple Store in that country until February 2018. The new Apple Store in the heart of Vienna (Wien) on the famous Kärntner Straße is the only Apple Store in Austria. Until then, the only official Apple retailer in Austria was the online store. T-Mobile Austria also carries the iPhone and other Apple products.
