Ohio

Akron – 50th Annual Oktoberfest, 6-8 September 2024
Location: 3871 Canfield Rd., Kent (Brimfield), OH 44240. This annual three-day event is hosted by the German Family Society of Akron. See the website for more.

Cincinnati (Oktoberfest Zinzinnati), 19-22 September 2024
Location: Sawyer Point & Yeatman’s Cove, Cincinnati. Presented by the Cincinnati Regional Chamber and Samuel Adams, Cincinnati’s four-day Oktoberfest celebration welcomes more than 800,000 attendees annually. Oktoberfest Zinzinnati showcases the rich German heritage of Southwest Ohio, as well as tasty samples of German-style music, food and beer. First held in 1976, the event has grown to be America’s largest Oktoberfest.

Cincinnati (Germania Oktoberfest), 23-25 August 2024
Location: Germania Society of Cincinnati, 3529 W Kemper Rd., Cincinnati. Cincinnati’s other Oktoberfest takes place earlier than the much bigger Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, but… Many people consider the Germania Society’s three-day weekend event (since 1971) more authentic and low-key.

Cleveland Oktoberfest, 30 Aug-2 September and 6-7 September 2024
Location: Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, 19201 East Bagley Rd., Middleburg Heights, OH. Now with a second weekend added, the Cleveland Oktoberfest is shaping up to be the party of the year. Real German beer, huge beer tents, a Biergarten, German entertainment, fireworks, contests and competitions, wiener dog races, and more. The Crowne Plaza Cleveland Airport in Middleburg Heights is the official hotel of the Cleveland Oktoberfest. Cleveland: Hofbräuhaus Cleveland, 13 September to 6 October 2024 (weekends)
Located at 1550 Chester Avenue in downtown Cleveland, the Hofbräuhaus Cleveland offers an authentic German beer hall/garden atmosphere year-round, but during Oktoberfest season it’s the next best thing to actually being in Munich. For four weekends ending on 6 October 2024, the Hofbräuhaus adds Oktoberfest attractions. See the website for more.

Columbus Oktoberfest, 6-8 September 2024
Location: Ohio Expo Center/Ohio State Fairgrounds. Ohio’s capital brings something new to the occasion at the Columbus Oktoberfest. Along with the usual German beer and food, guests can enjoy events like the stone toss and cream puff eating contests. There’s also a Weingarten (and beer halls of course), a Marktplatz, kids’ events, and three stages full of great entertainment.

Oklahoma

Tulsa Oktoberfest, 17-20 October 2024
Location: River West Festival Park, 2100 S. Jackson Ave, Tulsa, OK 74107. (No parking; special free shuttles available). This year is 45th edition of the Tulsa Oktoberfest, also known as the Zeeco Oktoberfest Tulsa. Named a Top Five Oktoberfest by USA Today, Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, and Orbitz, Oktoberfest in Tulsa runs for four days (Thursday-Sunday; plus special pre-fest events on Tuesday and Wednesday), and is a special experience. German beers on tap include Warsteiner, Spaten, Paulaner, Hofbraühaus, Weihenstephan, Karbach, and more.

Ontario, Canada

Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, 27 September – 19 October 2024
Locations: Various, including Willkommen Platz in downtown Kitchener (44 Gaukel Street). See the website for event details. Canada’s premier Oktoberfest has a 56-year tradition as of 2024, and it claims to be the biggest Oktoberfest outside of Germany! In Kitchener, a city formerly known as Berlin, from late September to mid-October, the festival atmosphere is more like Munich! With its history of German heritage, the Waterloo region really knows how to do Oktoberfest. In October, downtown Kitchener is transformed into a Bavarian village for four days, but there are many other events at other locations in the area in September and October – in or near Waterloo communities named Bamberg, Breslau, Mannheim, Baden, and New Hamburg. There are half a dozen Festhallen (festival halls) and other event locations. On top of that, there’s a huge Thanksgiving Day Parade on Monday, October 7th (Canadian Thanksgiving)!

Toronto Oktoberfest, 27 and 28 September 2024
Location: New for 2024! Downsview Airport Lands (YZD), 123 Garratt Blvd., Toronto, ON M3K 1Y5 I(n a former airplane hangar). Toronto’s two-day Oktoberfest was the first Bavarian-styled Oktoberfest in the city, dating back to 2012. It celebrates the food, drink, music, and dance of Bavarian culture. Fun contests and stage entertainment are part of the experience. See the website for more.

Oregon

Mount Angel Oktoberfest, 12-15 September 2024
Location: Downtown Mt. Angel, centered around 5 Garfield St., Mount Angel, OR 97362. The scenic Alpine/Bavarian-style town of Mt. Angel (pop. 3,392) is pretty much built as an Old World setting for Oktoberfest. It was settled around 1881 by Benedictine monks from Engelberg, Switzerland. Later, Bavarian immigrants also arrived. Its Oktoberfest is a top-ranked one, and is one of the oldest in Oregon, and the largest folk festival in the Northwest. Mt. Angel is located about 40 miles south of Portland and 18 miles north of Salem. See the website for details.

Quebec, Canada

Montreal – L’Okto (L’Oktoberfest de Repentigny) (in French), 6-8 September 2024
Location: Historic Fort Chambly, Parc de l’Île-Lebel in Repentigny (Montreal area). How about Oktoberfest in French? Head to Montreal’s North Shore and Repentigny’s Parc de l’Île-Lebel (Park). It’s more of a fun fair with craft beer, entertainment (music, comedy). Something different in any case.

Pennsylvania

Bucks-Mont Oktoberfest, 7 September 2024
Location: Vereinigung Erzgebirge (the “VE Club”), 130 Davisville Road, Warminster, PA 18974. Founded by German immigrants in 1931, the “VE Club” of Bucks County, Pennsylvania hosts one of the area’s best Oktoberfest celebrations. A keg-tapping ceremony, German music all day, and all the usual merriment make this fest one of the best!

Lancaster: Oktoberfest Liederkranz, 20-22 September 2024
Location: 722 S. Chiques Road, Manheim, PA. The Lancaster Liederkranz Oktoberfest is Lancaster’s oldest traditional Oktoberfest celebration which has been going strong since 1880! Obviously you can expect awesome German music and dance performances, great food and beer, and even raffles with big prizes.

Philadelphia Volksfest, (Labor Day weekend) 31 August – 2 September 2024
Location: Cannstatter, 9130 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19114. Modeled after Stuttgart’s Cannstatter Volksfest, the 152nd Volksfest in Philadelphia is sponsored by the local Cannstatter Volksfest Verein. The Cannstatter facility also has the largest Biergarten in Northeast Philadelphia, which is open every Friday from April to October – with live entertainment from 7:00-9:30 pm.

Philadelphia – Armory Oktoberfest, Sat., 12 October 2024
Location: 22 South 23rd Street, Philadelphia, PA. Enter the giant beer hall and enjoy delicious Hofbräuhaus beer at the 23rd Street Armory Oktoberfest in Philadelphia. Live German music, a liter lift competition, and authentic German bier and food and in a pretty authentic-looking space.

Pittsburgh – Teutonia Männerchor Oktoberfest, 30 August – 1 September 2024
Location: Teutonia Männerchor, 857 Phineas Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. This three-day Oktoberfest is open to the public.

Reading Oktoberfest, 2-6 October 2024
Location: Reading Liederkranz German Singing & Sports Society, 143 Spook Lane, Reading, PA. Oktoberfest at Reading Liederkranz is an annual event that has been celebrated for many years, and it’s one of the most anticipated events of the year. It offers a wide variety of German food and drink, German-style entertainment (singing, dancing), and of course refreshing German beer. You can also enjoy the company of fellow German culture enthusiasts while you eat and drink. See the website for more.

Rhode Island

Pawtucket Oktoberfest, 28 and 29 September 2024
Location: German American Cultural Society of Rhode Island, 78 Carter Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02861. The Gemütlichkeit of Bavaria is beautifully recreated in Pawtucket with live music, dancing, and of course genuine German Festbier and traditional Oktoberfest fare, all in an outdoor Biergarten, Ratskeller bar, and large indoor Bierhalle.

South Carolina

Florence Downtown Oktoberfest, 12 October 2024
Location: Downtown Florence, SC. Enjoy German-style food favorites, cold German and Oktoberfest-style beer, and great live entertainment in the 100 block of S. Dargan Street from 5:30-9:30 pm. Enjoy the Almost a Weenie Dog Races benefiting the Florence Area Humane Society, plus beer stein and keg rolling races, and more! Free admission.

South Dakota

Deadwood Oktoberfest, 4 and 5 October 2024
Location: Historic Deadwood. Celebrate Oktoberfest in the Wild West! Watch dachshunds in the Wiener Dog Races. Drink beer, listen to polka music, and play beer barrel games in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Tennessee

Knoxville Oktoberfest (Schulz Bräu), 21 September – 13 October 2024
Location: Schulz Bräu Brewing Co., 126 Bernard Ave, Knoxville, TN 37917. This Nashville brewery offers two weeks of Oktoberfest activities in the Bavarian tradition in its Biergarten and taproom.

Nashville Oktoberfest, 3-6 October 2024
Location: Germantown, Bicentennial Capital Mall State Park, 600 James Robertson Pkwy, Nashville, TN 37243. Nashville’s popular Oktoberfest event began in 1980. Official beers: Bitburger and Erdinger. Jägermeister sponsors a big party tent. Live music, contests, and imported German beer on tap. General admission: $10

Texas

Addison Oktoberfest (Dallas Area), 19-22 September 2024
Location: Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle, Addison, TX 75001. For more than 35 years, people have donned dirndls and lederhosen (or just come as they are) for four days of celebrating German culture. Slogan: “German fare with a side of Texas flair.” Addison is located just north of Dallas. See the website for details.

Austin Oktoberfest, 12 October 2024
Location: Red River Cultural District, on the historic German Free School grounds. Sponsored by the German Texans Heritage Society, this Oktoberfest is a one-day event from 11:00am to 7:30pm. According to the Austin Chronicle, it is “the most authentic Oktoberfest game in town.” The event is a fundraiser for the German International School of Texas. See the website for event details.

Fort Bliss Oktoberfest (El Paso), 20 and 21 September 2024
Location: Biggs Park, 11388 Sergeant Major Blvd., Fort Bliss, TX 79908. Fort Bliss is near El Paso. Oktoberfest has been a Fort Bliss tradition since 2014, and the public is invited. The first two days are open only for ages 18 and older, must be 21 or older to consume alcohol. Sunday, 22 Sept. is Family Fun Day, open to all ages!

Fort Worth Oktoberfest, 26-28 September 2024
Location: Trinity Park, 2900 Trail Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76107. This three-day event features Spaten Halle, a large air-conditioned beer hall and multiple other tents and event locations offering all the usual beer, food, and attractions you’d expect for Oktoberfest. Fredericksburg Oktoberfest, 4-6 October 2024
Location: Marktplatz, downtown. Fredericksburg, Texas is a community rich in German culture and history, so you’d be right to expect one of the best Oktoberfest celebrations in the US. It would be difficult to find a more authentic Oktoberfest in Texas or the entire country. The three-day event offers everything people expect from Oktoberfest – and a bit more. Galveston Oktoberfest, 25 and 26 October 2024
Location: First Lutheran Church, 24th and Winnie, in downtown Galveston. Also known as Island Oktoberfest (for Galveston Island), this two-day event highlights imported German beer, live music (on two stages), a sausage dinner, craft items, a kids zone, and more.

Kilgore Oktoberfest, 12 October 2024
Location: Main Street, Kilgore, TX. Experience authentic German food, music, drinks and family-friendly activities in this eastern Texas town of about 13,370 residents. Come dressed for the occasion in a Dirndl or Lederhosen and enter the Best Dressed competition.

McKinney Oktoberfest, 27-29 September 2024
Location: Historic Downtown McKinney. Enjoy a full weekend of German-themed fun in the center of McKinney, with the tradition of authentic German food, domestic and imported beer, live music, games, and much more.

Muenster Oktoberfest, 4-6 October 2024
Location: Heritage Park, 301 N. Ash St., Muenster, TX. The small town of Muenster, TX (pop. 1,731) in northern Texas, near the Oklahoma border, was settled by German Catholics and is named for a German city. So it knows how to do Oktoberfest. Its three-day event has everything people expect from Oktoberfest, including stein-hoisting and wiener dog races (even if they misspell it as “weiner”).

New Braunfels Wurstfest, 1-10 November 2024
Location: 120 Landa Street, New Braunfels, TX. Wurstfest in New Braunfels is “a unique annual celebration rich in German culture and full of Texas fun.” Sprechen Sie fun? Notice the late date in November! It’s a ten-day sausage festival, not really Oktoberfest, but the Wurstfest still has beer, music, games, and other Bavarian style features. Traditional garb is encouraged. See the website for details.

Southlake Oktoberfest, 11-13 October 2024
Location: Southlake Town Square. This year is the 21st Southlake Oktoberfest celebration. The weekend event in the Dallas/Ft. Worth suburb of Southlake offers free admission and parking for its celebration of German culture, with a wide range of food, beverages, and vendor items available for sale. Music and wiener dog races round out the fun.

Utah

Snowbird Oktoberfest, 10 August – 13 October 2024
Location: Snowbird Resort, Snowbird, UT. Utah’s original Oktoberfest is back for 2024 with over two months of activities (Saturdays and Sundays only + Labor Day). Live music (Alphorns anyone?), more than 50 varieties of beer, Oktoberfest food, and massive Munich-style beer tents will satisfy your festival desires. Free admission, but parking is $12 per car. Snowbird also offers lodging for those who want a more complete experience. The website offers more info and some helpful advice (avoid lines by buying tickets online).

Vermont

Stowe – Von Trapp Oktoberfest, 21 September 2024
Location: Von Trapp Brewing Bierhall, 1333 Luce Hill Road, Stowe, VT. The real von Trapp family of “Sound of Music” fame run a lodge, restaurant, and brewery in Stowe. Although their Oktoberfest event is only a one-day affair, it consists of three sessions of almost three hours each. The Inseldudler band plays throughout the day, as well as Trachten contests (for traditional Oktoberfest outfits), cask tapping and Steinholding competitions at each session. And Stowe itself is definitely worth a visit.

Virginia

Richmond Oktoberfest, 18 and 19 October 2024
Location: Meadow Event Park, 13191 Dawn Blvd, Doswell, VA 23047. In 53rd Richmond Oktoberfest in 2023 was forced to move to a new venue in Doswell. But the traditional event was a big success, and still greets you with a local brass band, entertains you with Bavarian dancers, and provides great beer and food. Washington

Leavenworth Oktoberfest, 4-5, 11-12 and 18-19 October 2024
Location: Bavarian Village at Front Street Park, and the Festhalle in Leavenworth, WA 98826. Leavenworth has long been known as the home of one of the best Oktoberfests in the US. For this year expect three beer gardens, live music, imported German beers, stein-holding contests, a keg-tapping ceremony, and all your favorite Oktoberfest activities. New for 2024: Attendees can choose the to pay via credit/debit card, mobile payment at time of purchase, or use cash to pre-load a smart wristband. No more paper tickets! See the website for more.

Spokane: West End Oktoberfest, 21 and 22 September 2024
Location: Five breweries in downtown Spokane’s West End. Features specialty beers and live entertainment. Pick your brewery and date. See the website for details.

Wisconsin

La Crosse – Oktoberfest USA, 26-29 September 2024
Location: Oktoberfest grounds, 1 Oktoberfest Strasse, La Crosse, Wisconsin 54601. The longest running Oktoberfest celebration in the Midwest features epic parades, a medallion hunt, tons of live music, contests, and more.

Lake Geneva Oktoberfest, 12 and 13 October 2024
Location: Downtown Lake Geneva, Broad and Geneva Streets. Features a beer garden, dachshund races, and an artisan market.

Milwaukee Oktoberfest, 4-6 October 2024
Location: Cathedral Square Park, 520 E Wells Street Milwaukee, WI 53202. The 14th annual Milwaukee Oktoberfest features great German food from Kegel’s Inn, beer from Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu and Leinenkugel, and fun events like the brat eating competition, a wiener dog race, and more.

Wyoming

Casper Oktoberfest, 5 October 2024
Location: Various. See the website. The Casper Oktoberfest benefits Make-A-Wish Wyoming. It’s a beer festival/bar crawl for a good cause.
