German Way co-blogger Jane Park now lives in Essen, in the industrial heartland of Germany, after many years in Germany’s Swabian Alps region. She has been an American expat in Europe since 2000. In between, she has experienced repatriation in San Diego and pursuing the German Way there. She wrote for the German Way Expat Blog from April 2009 to March 2016.
Like many German Way readers, Jane’s interest in Germany began when she fell in love with a native German-speaker, now her husband. In her previous non-German-speaking life, Jane worked as a professional fundraiser in Washington, D.C. and London. In addition to fundraising on a consulting basis, she is a children’s book writer committed to writing and supporting diverse books and enjoys exploring topics she encounters through her expat lens. She has edited an award-winning book on international fundraising, and was a co-editor of Germany for Beginners: The German Way Expat Guidebook for English-speakers living in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, based on the German Way Expat Blog.
She also writes about writing, raising her three third-generation Korean children trilingually, and Korean food in Germany on her expatkimchi.com blog. You can also follow her on Twitter: @janejoopark.
